The sculptures are essentially two dimensional, individual, wall hung pieces, figurative and abstract. Drawing and colour in 2D earthenware ceramics have become Bronwyn's main expressive route and the art works intentionally use traditional ceramic and painterly visual language and form. The work though contemporary in it's feel and part of a long term exploration of a complex network of ideas, is influenced by interests in- landscape, history, architecture and archaeology, including Middle Eastern and Mediterranean.
As physical objects, the focus is on drawing, to create vigorous dynamic movement on an inherently static permanent material together with bold use of ceramic colour - glaze / clay / slip, all in an expressive and non utilitarian form; exploring and exploiting qualities of surface, the effect of light, pattern, and texture (historically found in low fired ceramics), to create powerful contemporary pieces which impact on the interior space within which they hang.
